When Jon and Jamie Osborne became Pizza Hut Delivery franchisee’s in the summer of 2008, between them they already had a wealth of industry and management experience. The brothers joined Domino’s Pizza from school and had worked their way up to hold senior management positions. After seven years they were ready to look into running their own franchise; however Dominos did not have any suitable opportunities locally. Jon was then made aware of an exciting opportunity with arch competitor Pizza Hut; to set up a new Delivery Unit in Worcester with his brother. Several prospective franchisees were interviewed and the Osborne brothers were selected. Jon says “Pizza Hut is the leading Pizza Brand worldwide; everyone knows Pizza Hut restaurants; we had to let them know we also provided a quality food home delivery service. The challenge of getting that message across and taking on my old company, and building a strong, local customer base for my own business to service, greatly appealed to me.”

In his previous role as Area Manager Jon had experienced first hand the different channels and challenges of leaflet distribution. He preferred to use a local reliable leaflet distributor and a month before his business opened he contacted the franchise owner for DOR-2-DOR Worcester David Molyneux, to arrange a meeting. David started delivering leaflets two weeks prior to the opening of Pizza Hut Delivery. He has delivered 10k leaflets every week since on Jon’s behalf. Two years on Jon feels it is has worked very well for his business. “David was on top of our requirements from the word go and business came in as a result. In our industry you have to market consistently; you can not afford not to advertise.”

What were you looking to achieve with your leaflet campaign?
“We wanted to let people know we were there, create some anticipation and build a customer base locally.”

What format is the leaflet and who designed and printed it?
“The leaflets are designed and printed at Head Office; we used a little teaser ‘coming soon’ leaflet before we opened with special offers to attract custom from our first day of operation.”

What areas did your campaign cover?
“We started intensely leafleting a mile radius from our shop and then as we became established locally, we broadened our leaflet distribution to cover other areas of Worcester.”

What results did you see?
“We were flooded with business when we opened and David’s weekly marketing efforts since then have helped us to grow, we continually have a very good response from the marketing distribution he does for us. I am definitely pleased with how things are going. I have been able to double my staff numbers since we opened.”

Would you recommend DOR-2-DOR?
“Right from the start David went out of his way to accommodate our needs. He has been very helpful, always updating us on progress and always contactable when we need him. I have no hesitation in recommending DOR-2-DOR (Worcester).”
