Trust, reliability and quality are the key drivers behind Mobile Motor Medic, a fast expanding business of vehicle care, repair and maintenance based in Stoke-on-Trent. It started as a hobby, and ten years on, through recommendation, has grown to become a viable business. Through his employment experience prior to focusing on Mobile Motor Medic, owner Ian Williams built up a solid network of trusted professionals, who work with him to provide vehicle care for cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles. Ian’s guiding principle is that every vehicle is treated as if it was his own. It is collected, given the VIP treatment required and returned within a 30 mile radius of his town.

In 2006, when time and energy was devoted to developing an effective website business development came to a bit of a standstill. Then some leaflets came through Ian’s door, giving him the idea for how best to market the company. Ian then got in touch with Norman Goodwin, franchisee for Stoke-on-Trent for advice on how best to put his marketing campaign together.

What did you want to achieve with your leaflet campaign?
“We wanted to build awareness. Our leaflets are fed into the delivery system piecemeal style so we are able to cope with the volume of calls and demand which might result.”

What format is the leaflet and who designed and printed it?
“We did a test drop of 2000 leaflets first, and then we invested in having 100k leaflets printed on A6, thick glossy paper – introducing our company and our list of products.”

What areas did your campaign cover and over what period?
“We kicked off leafleting at the end of 2007, starting from the North East of the city, working in a clockwise direction putting from 3,000 to 5,000 leaflets out per week.”

What results did you achieve and what was the ROI?
“From the agreed start date we started to receive phone calls and due to the delivery rota I knew that it was down to the leaflets, I also started to notice a increase on visits to my web site and anyone who phoned I asked them how they heard about Mobile Motor Medic and most said it was due to a leaflet, on one day I received 4 phone calls from the Etruria area and I got 3 jobs.”

Would you recommend DOR-2-DOR and/or use our service again?
“I know I can leave it to Norman Goodwin – our local DOR-2-DOR franchisee. He provides feedback and reassurance my material has been delivered. I would definitely recommend him. Its all positive, he keeps me up-to-date, we have a good working relationship. I know the job has been done, as I build up my customer base and it grows both through leafleting/advertising and customer recommendations. I am fully committed to advertising through leafleting and have no problems in recommending DOR-2-DOR”
